    Hi,
I was having problems with the catalyst control centre and uninstalled it. I tried installing the latest version but it would not load the ATI display driver. I then loaded the old version that I had before off the cd. Now when I restart the PC I get an error message saying the CCC is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adaptor. Update the ATI graphics driver. How do I go about doing that? Also, I don't have any sound now. Thanks.

    Hi

As the CCC uses .Net install .NET 4.0 HERE and reboot and then install the latest ATi driver for your graphic card and reboot again and see if it changes.

Do you have any yellow ! marks in Device Manager? if so what?

Intel Motherboards do not come with ATi graphic solutions by default so you will have an add on card, so what model is it?

To help follow the below as your Speccy screenshot doesnt show any useful info in this reguard.

    Hi

What ATi driver are you using, from what source? is it the lastest from the ATi download site HERE or is it off a CD you have?

What I would attempt is to clean install the ATi driver and first off re-install the latest Chipset driver for your motherboard HERE and reboot (do reboot as its important to install the driver fully) then install the Audio driver from HERE

Then do the below to fully remove the ATi driver and CCC centre, and install the new.

    Hi

If you have any Yellow ! marks in Device Manager do please tell us as this maybe relevent?

Try the full uninstall again using Driver Sweeper of the ATi driver and also remove CCC, then install just the ATi graphic driver HERE and not the CCC and see if that helps.

thanks for your time. it is appreciated. i went to the download page for the graphics driver and it said unauthorised download. i looked through the site and the only individual driver download i could find was for a display driver (not graphics driver) is this the same? also there was one yellow ! in device manager. i have put an attachment. when i restart the pc there are some messages as well. more attachments. thanks. i haven't done the driver sweeper thing again yet.

    @David:
I noticed in the Everest report he is running an Intel G33 chipset.

I am wondering if there is a conflict between the video card (Asus) he has installed and the intel graphics chip. Maybe it has to be disabled in the BIOS?

Ahh, sorry didnt know that ATi had stopped linking to the direct downloads via their pages (thats poor on a tech support level, hence why I like Nvidia more), but try the ASUS one HERE (its the one highlighted HOPEFULLY in yellow) and choose any on the download locations.

Yes and the Chipset listed is for the G33 mobo, but I would agree with your thoughts tgell and checking that the BIOS has actually disabled the onboard graphics is a good option to try, most modern mobos should disable this automtically once a PCI-E or AGP care is plugged in but never know, so worth checking.

    Hi

Did you try the info that tgell posted on checking if in the BIOS that onboard graphics is disabled?

Lets take a quick step back to where you had sound and iirc it was after running the info in this post HERE? if so follow it again but only upto the point of uninstalling the ATi drivers, and once finished turn off your PC and then (remember static so have an antistat band if possible before pulling the gFX card) take out the graphic card and then replace it back into the slot, just take care when taking out and replacing.

Then reboot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and install the ATi drivers listed in that post, if they wont install in Safe Mode, install them in normal mode, but make sure your Antivirus is disabled (if Spybot is installed its uninstalled) as CCC gets installed with that driver open the CCC menus and then look for HD Audio in the menus and see if you can disable it?

In Device Manager if you open Sound and Video Game Controller branch whats listed?

hi, thanks again. i didn't feel too comfortable about pulling out the graphics card but i did uninstall the ati drivers. i found an old cd that had the original drivers and installed from that. when i start up now i don't get any error messages. but the problem i have now is that i can't get on to some web sites. i can get on to this one, but when i try facebook, ebay and windows update it always times out. i have tried these same sites a few times and cant get on to them, but some i can.
