no sound

I looked back to past threads but didnt seem to find any help.the problem is I reloaded xp and now no sound comes from my speakers, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I went to control panel- sounds and changed that to surround sound but that didnt work.I have been running xp and I believe I had this same problem but my brother inlaw fixed it but hes unavailable right now.

Did you install the drivers for the card?

Do you have the CD for the card?

Have you checked Device Manager to see whether you have a fault warning there?

 

checked device manager no problems, found driver cd and reloaded that,also went to website for updates

 

If everything seems to be working properly then

Make sure you know what kind of speakers you have

I have boston speakers and they are digital speakers so when I connect them to the computer they will not work if the signal is analog


I spent many days trying to figure this out and finally I found that option and they worked fine after that.

There might be an option that says autosense do not use that option either they are analog or they are digital.

autosense did never work
