If that is all you show, then your sound card is missing drivers.

Any question marks or ! in device manager?

Is it possible to add another audio device to this Asus 61319?

Physically? Sure. Software-wise, it shouldn't be necessary. When you told me your audio device, where were you looking?

A bit off topic, are you running Windows 7 Pro with only 1GB of RAM?

Adrynalyne I right clicked speaker and under sound devices (is that the wrong
place to check?) How do I check it properly.

yes plodr only 1 GB of ram not enough right? and what is the minimum I need?
I can always get more ram.

If it is 32 bit, then 4GB. Windows won't use it all but your computer will be happier.
If it is 64bit, then 8GB.
But before you start buying RAM, I need more than ASUS 61319 because I do not see it mentioned anywhere except this thread.
It might have a restriction on the amount of RAM particularly if the computer was old and came with XP installed.

You might want to check sound in control panel and see if there is another default device you can use. If it shows your sound card, set it as the default, and theoretically, you should get sound.

I say theoretically because I don't know what the device is, nor what the condition the drivers are in.

When I turn it on it said,s

P5L-MX Motherboard X Series (then Windows starts)

    there,s a sticker on the side said,s
    Model 61319
    S/N T6017210

    There,s a sticker inside that said,s
    MODEL OE DATE SERIAL
    PC61319 026493 0628 C201327
    PC61319003*5530 (does this help?)

You are right it came with XP Media Center 2005 OEM software

Do they make 2 GB ram stick,s because, there is only two slot,s?
What get me is ever thing seems to work perfectly, but the sound and
the computer can,t find any problem,s with the sound
I hope those numbers help and i,ll wait for your reply

    Thank,s plodr b1

    This is your motherboard
    http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5LMX/

    Go here http://www.crucial.com/
and below the picture, click the tab that says System Scanner.
It will scan your computer. Tell you that you have 2 slots, which you already know and mention the largest size RAM that will fit in each slot as well as the type of RAM the computer takes (DDR DDR2 DDR3) and speed of the RAM currently in the system and the speed the computer will accept.

Here are the 3 drivers for audio in XP (32 bit)
    http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=22&m=P5L-MX&os=&hashedid=X70d3NCzH2DE9vWH

And here are 4 driver for Vista (32 bit)
