Hello, been trying everything to get my sound working.. I tried..

    -recovery
    -installing new drivers
    -making default device

    * Just to note, I have the Logitech G930 headset and before I got them yesterday my sound was working fine. I installed the headset and deleted my sound driver because my headset wasn't working and had no sound. The headset works though it's just the software part that's messed up. :cry *

It all seems to not be working.Just about all solutions I've tired don't work.. Here's some of the things that's complicated and I just don't understand.

If all is as you explained, this is very simple... very simple indeed.
You caused the problem by deleting the sound card drive.

Now to get it working again, reinstall your sound card drivers.
Either use the cd that came with your motherboard for integrated drivers (which I believe it is) or the separate cd that would have come with a sound card and reinstall the drivers, and any software you also may have deleted that you want to get back.

If you cannot find or have thrown out these cds, google your motherboard model number and download the sound driver installation from its manufacturer's website or the sound card model number and its drivers from its manufacturer's site.

And for some general advice, do not go around deleting drivers or anything else you do not understand.

I just downloaded a program called Driver Robot and it detects and drivers that needs updated. It seemed as though my audio driver was out of date an needed updated. Even though I tried through Windows it wouldn't update. Now I get this file for Realtek and not sure where to put it? I'm a huge noob at this.

You didn't listen to or follow my advice. These driver programs can most times be more trouble than they are worth, installing adware etc. and in most cases will not installed needed drivers without some sort of subscription or payment.

If you are going to use a program like this, I suggest getting the download from Major Geeks' recommended programs.

I would stick to the advice I gave initially. Especially for a noob, it is the BEST option!

Hi my fellow , welcome to MG's :major

As Blujay suggested you before the best solution is downloading this programme

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cpu_z.html

go to Mainboard tab , there is the model of your motherboard , you must inform about this :wave

Ok, if you reinstalled your audio drivers here's what to do:

    1. Ensure that the audio device (your speakers) are plugged into the correct outlet.
    - For 2.1 or normal speakers, that should be the green headphone looking outlet at the back of the pc, on the integrated audio out panel.
    2. Go to control panel
    3. Look for sound and audio devices or something similar.
    4. Look under sound
    5. Look under the playback tab
    6. Select your audio device (your Realtek HD Audio or Logitech Headset)
    7. Set as default
    8. Ok.
    9. Test your audio - play an mp3 or movie file.

    Almost guaranteed to work!

I've tried this beforehand and it didn't work so I tried it again thinking maybe I missed something and nope it just doesn't wanna work..

To be clear I can't even use any of the settings on the Playback,Recording, Sounds, and Communications. The option for setting to default is completely grayed out and I'm unable to even configure or change properties in my sound tab. Also, my levels tab has nothing in it (for everything) which I find really weird.

I also get an error even trying to play a mp3 file. "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device"

Now that is weird. Did you have your headset plugged in at the time?

If your headset is plugged in and is the default sound device, the mp3 should play through it. When unplugged, the system should detect it and automatically switch to another device.

You need to be logged in as an administrator to install software and make changes.

Let's start from the beginning again.
You said you were a noob, but initially you stated that you deleted your sound driver. There is no easy way to do this, so you may want to start back and detail everything your did, what and how you did it, what you deleted, the steps you took and at which point you noticed the loss of sound.

Also, if you sound card has diagnostic software, now would be a good time to use it.
The next step would be troubleshooting the sound card. Which is where your details would come in.
-That error you posted makes it appear more serious than you are making it out to be.

Use the cpu-z software as falconattack stated above, and post your log, so we will know what your actual hardware is.

Yes I had my headset plugged in at the time and I even unplugged it and tried just my speakers.

    I'm the Administrator account.

I got a new headset in the mail around 4 days ago and once I plugged it in, the sound all of a sudden wasn't working on my computer and it had a x on it saying "No Audio Output device is installed". I checked everything to make sure the sound was working. I googled things and then I deleted my driver in device manager. I was reading on a forum and people said it would probably work if you delete and re-install the drivers.

    How I did this?
    - I went to start and typed in Device Manager
    - Went to Sound, video and game controllers
    - Deleted Realtek High Definition Audio
    - Restarted PC
    - Re-installed Realtek High Definition Audio
    - Didn't work

Post the log not screen shot.
You should find it under tools at the tab on the bottom.
    Upload the html log.

Have you tried restoring a system restore point from before 4 days ago when you plugged in your headset?

  12. Splewge King

    Splewge King Private E-2

I tried restoring but it only showed one access point and even when I click the box to show more it only had one and it was when I reset my pc after I deleted my driver.

So there is more to this story.
This was not included, in you very thorough details of what you did.

    Want to start again?
Because from what you said so far, and what I told you to do, it should have worked.

-and remember, if you really want help, the details are very important!

--There was absolutely no reason for you to have reset your system restore points for installing a headset or sound card. Forgive me for saying so, but that was stupid.

Pardon the jump in, but resetting the restore points was a"mistake" by a user who admittedly called themself "a huge noob at this". The OP is looking for help not judgement.

Splewge King, do you have a reinstall disk, a driver disk or a back of of your system or drivers ?
Also, what made you reset your restore points ?

My fault totally. I guess I wasn't thinking when I said that.
I know we were all noobs once.
