When I logged off my PC last night everything was fine. Today, when I logged on I'm getting no sound or rather no sound form some things. I'm using Windows 10. The light on my speakers to show they are switched on is lit. When I open something that needs you to agree to it opening with User Account Control I get the warning sound coming through the speakers as normal. But, if I play a video clip in You Tube, for example, no sound is coming out of the speakers. I am puzzled by this issue and would like advice what to do because I have no idea.

Do music and videos work in your Media Player?

On videos in my media player the visual is playing normally but there is no sound with them.

They had sound before? With the program running, Win 10 has individual sound sliders for each app. Right click the speaker in the system tray and select Open Volume Mixer.

    Thank you!

I would have checked backed sooner but I was watching my emails for replies and had none.

Yes, they had sound before. With the programme running, I right-clicked the speaker icon in the system tray, opened Volume Mixer and as can be seen in the image I attach everything was at maximum. I still have no sound coming through my speakers.

I had not noticed they were muted. I also do not know why they were muted. I have unmuted them but still the problem is not resolved.

As you can see in the attached image the sounds are all unmuted. On the YouTube video clip I have the volume at max and I have the volume on my speakers turned up to the max. There is still no sound coming out of them.

Maybe a corrupt driver.........Did you try updating the audio driver in device manager?

If its still playing Windows sounds, its likely somewhere in config needs attention.

If that does not solve the problem is there anyway to roll back to where I was before doing the driver update? I would certainly create a restore point before doing it.

If that is required how would I go about it?

I have a Windows Update pending so I will let that install. I don't know, may be it could fix the problem.

I have Tweaking.com installed. If I run that could that fix the issue?

If it allows an update but doesnt solve the issue, you dont need to roll back as you want to stay with the latest driver anyway.

Let the windows update install and disable Tweaking.com crappy software. Any difference?

    Why is it?

Not had the opportunity yet plus wanted to see if a reply recommended I did none of the things I said I was going to do. Will be doing them later as must go out now.

I just don't reckon most users should be automating system tweaks, when most times they don't realize what other processes are being affected.

These can easily be done manually in the area's required, in order to have minimal effect on others.

    Normal service is resumed.

I ran the Windows Update and my speakers are working again.

Thanks to all who helped me.
