I have an HP Vectra 350, 37.2 GB, 256 MB RAM, 1000 Mhz, but I recently cleared my harddrive. When I reinstalled windows 98, I was able to reinstall everything right, including the modem, ethernet card and all the drivers, but my sound driver will not work for some reason. I have no sound on the computer, but i was able to install the modem driver, chipsets and all the other drivers. I removed the PCI Multimedia Audio Device, then installed the sound driver and still nothing. I think I am installing it right, so can some tell me what to do as far as trying to fix my sound or a good cheap sound card I can buy. Thanks!

I assume you already checked in Device Manager for unkown devices and devices with errors?

where are you getting the sound driver you are trying to install?
heres a link to the windows 98 sound drivers if you havent already gotten them from hp http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor....y=7&submit.x=7&lang=en&cc=au&swEnvOID=20#895

also a suggestion... if you can get a bit more RAM, you could run windows XP pretty smoothly and it would be a lot more beneficial than windows 98. but that IS extra money :p which always is a big deciding factor.
