ah ok an eMachines.... which model is it ( should have asked earlier.. still asleep I guess ) ?

If you goto the support site and enter all your details in it will take you to the correct driver for your machine http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html ( sondmax dont have drivers available from their own site as most manufacturerers do sometimestweak them for their own mobos )

aite, here's what you do...go google everest home, and dl it. then, run it, and get all the necessary model #s and whatnot. then, dl drivercleanerpro, and now boot into safe mode, run that drivercleanerpro, erasing everything to do w/ your sound controller (found after running everest). now, boot into normal mode, and go to the manufacturer's website and dl the latest driver for your controller. hope this helps.

Thats no problem, if you have the time so do we? we can go as slow or as quick as you want in helping you step by step.

Do you have your PCs manuals at all which may give you a model version number? Did you also have a look around the case for any info?

As Russian Master said get EVEREST and once installed click Computer and Summary, and under Multimedia > Sound Adapter what does it say your sound is?

I have sneeky suspicion that the driver I linked you to above/earlier will actually work.

This is an old thread, best thing would be to start your own and provide us with a little more info.
First start a new thread here.
    Drivers
(click the new thread button top left of page)

Tell us what your problem is .
A make and model # would help if your PC is not a home built.
    Or even better:
Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.
