    Hi

I'll start at the begining, Motherboard machspeed PT800DBP. installed an ATI 9000Pro and Audiology 2. Kept getting blue conflict screen. Upgraded Video card for GForce FX5500. Still got blue screens but less often. Unistalled Audiology, did registery sweep and reinstalled (PCI 3) using Creatives autoupdate. Still got blue screens. Downgraded to an old SB Live 5.1 and got lots of blue screens so I uninstalled it. I then reinstalled my Audiology and this is where the real problems began. Control Panel ---> Sounds and .. ---> Audio
says there is no audio device. So I unistalled it again!!! and went with the onboard sound. Changed my bios did the sweep thing and downloaded the Via 97 something drivers ..... still no detection of device. So I uninstalled again and on boot (for the first time) it ID's the onboard sound and I let windows get the driver, and it all worked. Then after doing a scan with my spyware and antivirus I rebooted and now I am back to square 1 .... no audio device. Please help.

    Hi

I have Windows XP home and I have done all the updates. I have used Registry Mechanic and Hijackthis.

is that by Iolo Software? last time I used that I had to reformat my drive because it completely corrupted the file system. Use registry fix, tweaknow, crap cleaner and/or easycleaner. If it's caused by registry corruption, I don't know what to tell you.

Do you see it in the device manager?

btw, don't you mean audigy? I know with mine, I had to install with the disk that came with it, then I went to creatives website for the updates.

    Hi

Oops, yes I do mean Audigy. Registry Mechanic is made by PCTools.

In the Device Manager it lists the drivers, with no conflict. I can click on it and enable it and set it as the default, but under sounds it is not listed under the Audio tab. I have this same problem whether I use the onboard or the card.
Could one of my Spyware programs be causing this issue? Could Firefox be the cause? I have spent days reading help files at Creative, MachSpeed, and Microsoft. I am at a total loss.

Something to try. If you have the drivers installed for this sound card.

    Option 1:

In device manager, remove ALL sound devices from device manager. Reboot the computer. If it asks for the driver disk, insert it.

    Option 2:

Shutdown the pc. Remove the card. Startup the pc. Shutdown the pc, insert the card in a different PCI slot (if none are available, you may be able to put it back in the same slot). Turn on the PC.

I've used both these options successfully in the past.

Reformatting should always be the LAST opiton to try.

    Hi

I have moved the card to another slot and reinstalled the software, rebooted .... nothing. Went to creative and updated drivers. I now have sound when my computer boots but nothing else. I went to help and support and under tools... my computer ... it lists the card. Also under device manager it lists the driver without conflict, but not under sound ... audio
