I don't know why or how but my computer running Windows XP just all of a sudden stopped playing all sounds. The last thing I remember doing was pressing either pause or mute or volume up/down on one of those quickie, easy access sound buttons on the top of your keyboard. I used them alot with no hitch before. However, now my computer won't play music files anymore nor any system sounds. And yes, I checked to make sure mute and such is not on. Any ideas on what to do/what happened? Do I need a new sound card or something? Thanks!

It might be very simple. First of all, try plugging in the wire to a diffrent place on your sound card and check if the wire is loose. Second, go to start, all programs, accessories, entertainment, and volume control. Turn the volume up. If it still doesnt work, ask someone else or get a new sound card.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean plugging the speakers into a different jack? And what wires should I check that are loose? The one that connects the sound card to the mobo? I also tried playing around with the volume control already.
