Do you know for a fact that the realtek Avance audio 97 codec is the one you need?

As much as you can post your system specs... mainly your motherboard name/model/version is whats needed if you have onboard sound, if you have a add-on PCI sound card waht make is that?

If you get Everest, this program will assist in finding all the info you need about whats in your PC http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

Hey your perfectly correct it does have a Realtek AC97 sound chip, dunno why the one you installed didnt work tho...

    1. Enter Bios and check to see if onboard sound is enabled
    2. Goto FIC the makers of your motherboard and get their audio drivers.. I have hunted them down to make it quicker for you ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboard/driver/1stUtilities_v1.27/AUDIO/REALTEK655.zip

see how you go with the ideas above?
