No Startup

so i have gotten a emachine computer out of a storage locker that got auctioned off. so i got home and when i tryed to hook it up to see if it works, when i plug the power cord into the power supply instantly the fan on power supply turns on and the power light flashes real fast and HDD light flashes fast also almost like maybe something is grounded out. but i push power butten and also hold it down and nothing happens i dont think the hard drive even comes on just power supply and nothing show up on screne.

 

Try re-seating cards, ram, HD cables etc. Something may have come loose. If you have spare RAM sticks try those, or if more than one installed, try one at a time in case one is bad.

When you try to boot it does it make any beeps at all?

Can you hear the HD whirring in to action?

Try attaching a different monitor. Does anything at all appear e.g. windows logo.

Could be power supply gone bad; vid card gone bad or at worst - MB gone bad.

Do you know for sure that it has an OS installed on it? It may have been wiped before auction.

 

well i really cant boot up because i dont have the option to start pc. when i plug power cord in instantly power supply turns on. hard drive does not make any noise at all not running. monitor is fine. do you know one thing that i could try to see if wrong

 

Look at this thread concerning eMachine power supplies. It may be a poorly matched power supply.
