No System Restore.

Hello,
My whole computer system seems to have lost it's mind. I don't know what happened, how or when. I have Windows XP and up until this past Wednesday everything was working fine. I had a problem signing into yahoo and I was able to correct. Then I started have problems with my firewall, spyware and other things. I did a system restore and everything appeared to be okay. Now today my problems are worse. I cannot open my system restore, I had to re-install AOL and I have bunch of porno stuff in my yahoo email that I'm not able to delete. When I try to open system restore, I only get a blank screen. I can't open the computer check up supplied by AOL either. I wanted to do a system clean up but I wasn't able to. I'm currently able to sign into AOL, but there are some things that I cannot do. When I click on certain icons nothing happens. When I click to check my AOL account I get a blank screen. If there's an image in an email, I can't see it. Even if it was an email I received before this fiasco.
My computer skills are very limited, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
