No video for me

Ok I have a sony vaio pcv-rs720g XP service pack 2, and i am trying to run Giga pocket (at one time it worked) I start program and it tells me hardware overlay. My directx program says directdraw acceleration is not available i have 9.0 version whatever the newest one is I updated today. only one that is enabled is 3d, I tried the netmetting fix (disabled) didn't work. I downloaded the latest driver for my stock video card. I tried msconfig and disabled some startup software and the Hardware overlay screen went away but it still did not work no TV or Video. I have the windows media player 11, regular dvd does not work i can hear but cant see. I downloaded all the widows updates..Is there any one that can help me please

 

Hiya. While this sort of thing can be a messy situation, my guess is you installed\uninstalled, did a registry clean or something that caused this to quit\become corrupt and is typically what I see happen.

If possible, backup current info, and do a system restore to a point before it quit working, try to backtrack all and anything installed that you can remember afterwards and maybe this will tell you what happened. Can't guarantee a fix but a good place to start.
