No Video

Ok I have a sony vaio pcv-rs720g XP service pack 2, and i am trying to run Giga pocket (at one time it worked) I start program and it tells me hardware overlay. My directx program says directdraw acceleration is not available i have 9.0 version whatever the newest one is I updated today. only one that is enabled is 3d, I tried the netmetting fix (disabled) didn't work. I downloaded the latest driver for my stock video card. I tried msconfig and disabled some startup software and the Hardware overlay screen went away but it still did not work no TV or Video. I have the windows media player 11, regular dvd does not work i can hear but cant see. I downloaded all the widows updates..Is there any one that can help me please

Here's how one gal got it to work.

If you are getting an error message that another application is using the Hardware Overlay, when trying to access either GigaPocket or Click to DVD, begin by checking you DirectX DirectDraw Acceleration setting. Do that by:
1) Click Run
2) enter dxdiag.exe and click OK
3) go to the Display page
4) under DirectX features the first listing is DirectDraw Acceleration. I'm guessing this says, "Not Available" and the Enable button is grayed out. This is your problem (and it has nothing to do with Hardware Overlay as far as I can tell!)
5) Close the DirectX utility.

To fix this (by Enabling DirectDraw Acceleration), do this totally obscure fix:
1) Start NetMeeting (I had to search for it on my harddrive because I had never even used it before) - if this is your first use just zip through the configuration settings and don't both to configure anything just keep clicking Next
2) once it opens click Tools on the menu bar and select Remote Desktop Sharing. Again you are going to go through the motions of setting it up but don't worry about actually configuring anything, just keep clicking next till you get back to NetMeeting.
3) Once you are back to the main window, again click Tools and again click Remote Desktop Sharing and this time disable (unclick the Enable box) the sharing and then close NetMeeting.
4) Go back to the DirectX utility (Run/dxdiag.exe) and you will now see DirectDraw Acceleration enabled - don't touch anything, just verify that it's enabled and then close the utility.
5) start GigaPocket or Click to DVD - PROBLEM SOLVED!!
