I recently had my desktop computer in storage while i moved. when I went to set it up in new location, it fired up but shortly after it started the monitor lost signal. I tried a different monitor and still received "no signal". Is this likely a problem with the video card or something else? Any help would be greatley appreciated. I am using Windows XP on a Sony Vaio desktop console.

Does it seem to boot up normally except for the video, like all the normal noises etc.? Can you try another card? How long was it in storage as the battery only lasts three or so years without a backcurrent and how old is it? Did you at least get the normal boot up screens?

yes, it seems to boot up normally. i did have video for a short time. and then it suddenly went off. the monitor showed "no signal". windows looked like it was almost fully loaded when the screen went blank. the unit was in storage for about 6 months. no i don't have another card to try.

Well, it could be a dying power supply if you bought this off the shelf like a Dell or other OEMs as they just put a minimum of a power supply which can degrade some %10/year.

I can't say that's it but it sure sounds like it is the culprit as when Windows starts, there's a larger current draw at the time. Can you boot into safe mode? Hit the delete button repeatedly as it boots up, do you have a screen?
