    Help,
Computer one started to lose the video randomly while using it. Then it completely disapeared and I have nothing at all. The light on the monitor is oranage instead of green like normal.

Then I got a new video card to see if that was the problem. The card was an upgrade and I regained the video but the processor began to overheat so the computer would shut down.
Eventually I had nothing but a cursor on the screen which was more than I had before.

I then tried to go back to the onboard video but there was no change.

Now computer 2 brand new computer hooked it up and no video just like the first one.

I am using a lcd monitor with VGA connections and I have checked that they are connected tightly.

    Update:
This weekend I got another monitor and video card.
I tried them both on computer 1 and 2 with no change.
I still do not have any response from this monitor.
Computer 1 is new and has never gotten a picture with the monitors. I think I may send it back for a replacement.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

how old is the monitor? how many inputs does it have? can you access the monitor's OSD (on screen display) menu?

lets work on ruling out the bad piece... (i just noticed you had tried more than 1 monitor)

did you check if the video card is seated properly in the motherboard?

One monitor is about 6 months old and has only the vga input. A box with red blue ect stripes comes up like a screensaver when I disconnect it from the computer. I am unsure how to access the screen display but will try again later. The second monitor is a slightly used store display monitor that I recently bought. It has both vga and dvi input. I have tried to randomly punch the screen buttons with no success ;) but have not tried to look for specific instructions.

the monitor with the single VGA input seems like it works-- perhaps a pin or two are bent on the plug?

keep trying on the other one, if you cant get any display there is clearly a problem with the monitor itself.
