    Hey Guys,

A mate came over today to use my PC and do some stuff via limewire, well I`ve just been sitting here going through my drive, cleaning things up, and their is a picture in the limewire downloads folder, I cant preview it, delete it, nothing, when I right-click it hardly any menu options come up, so I try and delete it using the right menu options in the left hand panel "File & Folder Tasks" - Move this file, copy this file, Email, print, Delete! Well I just get that fail 'Ting' sound!

Any idea on how to remove this file, I`ve scanned it, not a virus, but I cannot move, delete it, or anything, it has a MASSIVE filename lenght.

Personally I do not know why he would download this picture, especially as to what the picture name says! I will be having a talk with him, he cannot tell me it downloaded itself!

    Hmmmmm

I found a way, I brand up command, then lead it to the directory that contained the file, moved everything but that file from that directory via Win Explorer, then I command promt "C:DD\Del Music", Are you sure... Yes.... Then As an extra caution I "C:\DD\erase Music", Are yousure... Yes.....

The only thing is neither of them removed the actual directory, only the content of the folder, I thought DEL command deleted directory, and Erase command erased the *.* Content of a folder, without using switches?

Gawd, I miss Xtree Gold :)

Hehe, seriously though, thankyou! I think you`ve just made my year! I never knew anything like Xtree Gold was in existance anymore, you just let me to a program that isn't only like Xtree Gold, but everything good about Xtree, plus fixed tasked that I didn't like about Xtree!

The del command typically will only delete files.

The RD command will delete directories.

RD /s c:\junk <--- This will delete a folder and all files and subdirectories within said junk folder. :)

the weird file names such as "9dk39kd9hjfdjfk9j9jjfdjfkljlg.tmp" sound like temporary files that never completed downloading in limewire to me. was this problem resolved?

tell me some more about this RD command...
