Nobody seems to have the answer to this...

Im having a odd problem... basically whenever i connect to the internet now the connection lasts for about 10mins and thens tops.. sort of: I can then no longer open any websites AT ALL.. tho everything else works fine eg: MSN messenger still stays connected and works fine, i can also connect to limewire after it "stops" working and download songs etc.. so everything still functions fine but i cant load any websites.
Its weird that it works for the first 10mins when i connect (dial up) but then stops... Any ideasssssssss

 

Yes, even if i use firefox the same thing happens.... after 10 or so mins no sites want 2 open

 

Do you have a firewall installed?

As an experiment, turn it off.

 

so.......did you scan your computer to see if you have any malware?
It might be a good possibility that you do since you listed in your earlier post that you use limewire. Also what anti virus and anti spyware apps are you using?

Id like to try that. however my connection cuts out or watever after 10 mins and i can only scan 30% sooo unforunatly i cant use that....

ive tried a few other programs suggested... most cleaned "something" out, tho the problem still exists...

 

you mentioned "malware" is there any other way 2 search and get rid of it apart from the active scan thing. it would be easier for me 2 download something then use the online thing which cuts out and @ dat point i can then no longer open anything etc etc.......

Hummmmm.....deinstall your zone alarm firewall and see what you get.

 

Grrrrr I have like exactly the same prob....I have reoformated my pc and it still does this, I dont even have a firewall.

After reformat my pc has got to be clean right?

it is so anoying like ten minutes then nothing will work....I lose my connection on lots of stuff and so on...whaaaa

 

Well your not dropping your internet connection cause your able to use other web apps. I would definetly do as jconstan said and uninstall your firewall to see if this is part of the problem. I'm not sure that would be it though cause your able to load webpages for the first 10 min. Sounds to me like a virus or some type of spyware as previously mentioned. You may have gotten hit with this after you formatted again. Did you get your windows updates on right away before surfing the net? Your definetly taking your chances with any file sharing program such as limewire. If your problem is with a previous website that you visited and you exported your internet settings from IE to Firefox when you started firefox you may have the same issue. Have you deleted your cookies, temp internet files, and cleared history? Has your homepage changed?

 

I just wanted to happily announce that my problem is gone, I downloaded Spy Doctor and it found all sorts of things that no other program was able to find! And now everything is back to normal and working fine! Thanks to everyone who helped out
