Hi guys, a friend of mine asked me for some recommendations for Noise Cancelling Headphones; I don't know much about them or had any experience with them; so can you help me out here?

He was looking at the BOSE noise cancelling headphones, so you can use that as a ballpark benchmark for $$$ as well as quality.

One of his concerns is cancelling out background noise while travelling, like on an airplane.

    Thank you.:)

the first seven get 4 stars out of 5. If he types a model in, he might get reviews from owners of the headphones.

It's interesting that the first one on this list, didn't score as well on the previous list.

For what its worth, Consumer reports compares two

I don't always agree with Consumer reports when it comes to computers and software/hardware.

I want to add that your friend should try them on if at all possible. Many of the plastic banded and some of the metal banded ones will not maintain their shape over time. You can stretch them wider so they are not pinching your head but in a 2 hour gaming session they will resume their pinching ways.
I use a Logitech G35 headset, the metal bands hold the shape well and sit lightly on my head. Over time this is more important than sound, noise cancelling or anything else.

I personally have sound engineering experience for the greater part of 15 years. I would suggest he purchase any noise cancelling headphones by AKG, Beyer, or yes Bose would still be ok. But I'd prefer Senheisser over Bose... In my opinion Bose has had a record of creating excellent looking products, but they don't grab my trained ears as well as the other brands I mentioned. AKG being the brand that invented headphones in the first place back during the beginning of radio days when there was no television.

    My 2 cents

Amar bose was the inventor of noise cancelling headphones, thus as the main inovator in this field, the bose qc15 are probably the best noise cancelling headphones at around 300 pound
