noises

    just got a new dvd burner works good after learning how to use software but sometimes when i put a cd in it makes a loud noise when cd starts , is this bad for the drive , what might cause this and how do i fix problem ? thanks in advance for any help

    It is probably the CD. If it is dirty or something the drive might have trouble reading it so it will spin it faster to try and read it.
    That is probably what you're hearing.

    Either that or the cd is not sitting properly in the tray.
    Most likely it is a dirty cd.
