    Dear Forum,
My keyboard has suddenly started making a sort of beeping noise when hit every key, and it also has trouble when I type double letters--such as 2 "t's", or when I hit backspace twice, I have to try over and over to hit the second double stroke.

I did troubleshoot keyboard issues, and all I found was that my "device was working properly". Also I tried to update the keyboard driver, but there "no new drivers available."

I could find no information when I did a search. Any suggestions?
Keyboard plugs into USB port and I am running Windows XP.
    Thanks,
    Mishkyn

The easiest way to find out what's going on is to simply try another keyboard. If you try a PS2 keyboard, remember the PC must be turned off when the keyboard is plugged in or it won't work and you risk damaging the PC. USB keyboards can be plugged in whenever.... so maybe a friend has a keyboard you can borrow just to see if your keyboard is faulty or if the problems are elsewhere. New keyboards are under $15 for a generic one, and your local used PC shop should have used keyboards for about $5 each. Thrift shops have 'em for even less.

You could just try changing the USB port that the keyboard is plugged in to. Have you updated your USB port drivers?
But as mentioned before, another keyboard would be the best thing to try first.

Thanks DLB and Kestrell. I was away from my computer for a few days, and when I turned it on to get to work on my keyboars problem yet again, it was back to normal all by itself.

But thanks for your ideas, I will file them away for the future--just in case.

My guess is that at some point you held the SHIFT key too long(I think about 8 seconds or so) and XP turned on accessibility options[Sticky Keys]. It is a program that allows people with limited dexterity to avoid double keystrokes by ignoring repeated keystrokes. The beeps might have been an aide for the visually impaired.

I tend to hesitate too long when using SHIFT and have this feature turn itself on rather frequently, to my dismay.
