Nonfree Web Hosting

Hey dudes!

Qucik question . . .Can anyone suggest a GOOD web hosting service?

I know www.hostrocket.com gives you 1000mb of storage, 50gb transfer for around 12/month if you sign up for 6 months. The drawback is their domains are $20. But I know godaddy.com has some good prices on domains that can be carried over . . .

I'm wondering if any of you guys know of a god hosting service that I can look into. I would like to stay around 15$ a month or less. And atleast 1000mb storgae space.

Unless you get domain registration free--they are generally 20 a year.

Thats a standard price.

When you say us, do you mean they host Majorgeeks? Or one of your personal sites?

Also, do you know if they roll over your bandwith per month? So If they give you 60GB of bandwith, and you only use 10 that month, will they roll over 50 for next months?

Last question . Do they allow you to have subdomains?

A word of advice... buy domain names seperatley to web hosting, people just LOVE to overcharge for registering a domain on your behalf, and its not rocket science to set it up yourself.

And if you get seperate domain hosting, subdomains cost nothing! just add them to your DNS records, and set up forwarding on the webspace accordingly

 

I've used www.dreamhost.com over the last decade or so, with no complaints. At one time I had 12 different accounts with them.

Err, goldfish . . I don't wuite understand what you mean? I should buy a domain name from somebody other than my host . .. for what reason? I mean, Ipower will give you a domain for free. . .

What's the difference between buying a domain name through the host, and buying a domain name through someone else? Wouldn't you be able to have subdomains no matter what?

Do you know of any good sites to purchase a domain name? I know of go daddy, which will allow how ever many subdomains you want . . . Anyone ever heard of em?
