    :confusedI have had this system for over 6 years;
    Operating System
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Version: 5.1.2600
    Service Pack: 3.0
    Location: C:\WINDOWS
    Hot Fix: KB980232
    Memory (RAM)
    Capacity: 2 GB Processor
    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
    Version: x86 Family 15 Model 43 Stepping 1
Speed: 2200 MHz Used: 199.42 GB Free: 98.66 GB

During this time I have had 2 major problems, Both times took my computer to my tech repair guy he, both times, created a "backup" file, on my hard drive and repaired my xp system. After repairs I would go to the backups he made re-transfer all my pics, docs, programs, etc, to the appropriate places, but leaving everything else in the back up files (see below), afraid of deleting anything. Not very computer smart at times :)

Here is the question. I have two files in my c: drive...
    1. My Backup--08-27-06 0337PM (size 13.8 GB14,832,205,287 bytes)(86,531 files)
    2. My Backup -- 08-30-08 1136AM (size 47.5 GB (51,063,110,581 bytes)with over 95,000 files

I know there is useless programs/components/etc in both files I can get rid of, but unsure of what. Is there a program that can scan my system, find my duplicates or remaining junk and tell me what is safe to delete? Or should I just pack up my computer and take it to a tech and pay for this to be done. These files are just taking up so much of my disk space!:cry

I hope this isn't too confusing :) Trying to explain it correctly lol

Thanks! to anyone who can help!
    Michelle

Get yourself a nice big (500GB) external drive, transfer your backup files to it, and delete them from your hard drive. They wouldn't be much use to you anyway if your hard drive failed, as you would lose the lot.
