    I'm new to majorgeeks.
I red the "How to protect yourself from malware." sticky.
    Downloaded and ran CCleaner.
Downloaded and ran mb.exe - no issues found.

However, in the process of downloading CCleaner, I mistakenly downloaded and installed Zipper (i believe it's a Perion Network Ltd product)...uninstalled it as soon as I recognized that I had gotten lost on my path to a CCleaner download site. What an idiot I am!

Now my ages old Firefox browser has a seemingly permanent and undeletabe Q-search tab taking up room on the tab bar. Hoping you folks could help me get rid of it.

Of course, it was in IE also. I uninstalled IE but have not yet reinstalled. Wondering if I should re-run CCleaner before reinstalling IE?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The How to protect yourself from malware sticky is for when you have actually cleanup up any malware on your PC. Were you have malware problems or was your PC already known to be clean?

The below sticky is what you need to follow if having malware problems.

Note that IE is an integral part of Windows and really cannot be completely uninstalled. You can uninstall updates, but you cannot uninstall the original version that came with Windows. In addition, if you break IE by deleting it, you will not be able to get Windows Updates and there are many websites and programs that will not work properly because they require IE.
