ok so what , I use a computer only to play dumb games , watch blond chicks and order gun stuff.

Somewhere along the line I managed to make some lovely kids with my redhaired lady

And somewhat puzzeling , they grew up pretty much ok .

That was the fun part , now for the annoying part , they want to use my pc

I managed to make some accounts for them using Windows XP . Now I would like to give them the possibility to download music from one site , but nothing else ( those little bastards already downloaded me a virus )

Is that possible on Xp ?

And if so , could someone please guide me on the right path to worryless internetacces for my kids and lots more of the fun stuff for me ..

oooooo! kids... now that's a tough one. They're just so damned adept at finding their way around safeguards. Advice 101 - back up anything you consider important. They will download more viruses before all is said and done. Advice 201 - hide the guns, they'll be mad when they find out you're trying to restrict access. Advice 301 - get them a cheap clunker of a rebuilt pc to do their music downloading on. make an image of it, and be prepared to reload the image every time they screw it up.

Let them move the music from the clunker to your good machine, but have them "test" the songs first (on the clunker) to make sure they're actually music files and not viruses disguised as music - as a rule of thumb, music will usually play when you open it, viruses disguised as music will usually do something else like ask you if you want to continue, or install, or give you an error message or tell you you need to download or update something before it can play. You'll want them to delete those ones right away.

So have them move the good music files to the good computer, that way, when they infect the clunker, you can blow it away (the guns may come in handy here) and reload from your saved image.
