Norton And XP

i have just formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows xp sp1 streamline.
then i installed norton internet securit and system works. the problem is neither of them work properly they did befor now they don't, not even live update works propely.
internet sec will not startup
system works will
live update gives me an error saying tha it was unable to connect to the site please reinstall this app.
so i did and sam error comes up and it is the latest version from the website too.
can anyone help PLEASE

 

HI Harper . not sure if this will help . but i have nortons AV 2002 . In control panel i have symantec live update . my settings for that are the following . ISP tab i have the dot ( the internet options in control panel ) and the proxy tab i have the dot ( i want to use my internet explorer proxy settings ) hope this will help with the live update problem
