I NAV on disk and have used it on many other systems. The system I am working on now is a Dell L933R, that has been updated from ME to Win2000. Problem is, I can't get NAV in or out. There was a preinstalled version but that came out and the Liveupdate 1.9 came out, but can't get 2004 in. Been through the registry and took out what I know to be NAV by keynames, symantec, etc... but still when CD is initializing, it comes up with it has encountered an error and did not complete. Any ideas what I can do to get past this part? I have been on it for 2 days now and with no luck or advancement. Thanks...

2 days? My opinion may be disputed, but heres my thoughts. I dont upgrade operating systems. Period. I would clean install 2k, or better yet, XP if you can afford that. Upgrading from ME to 2k is not a bad move considering ME is considered a joke, but I would still go XP if its possible, otherwise clean install is always best IMHO.

From there, why ruin a fresh, fast install with Nortons when you can run Avast, AntiVir or AVG for free? Your 2 days of work can be ended within an hour or two and it will be a screaming fast, clean install.

I couldn't agree more considering Windows ME came out AFTER 2k, and is not considered a supported upgrade path. It is recognized as upgradeable only because it is a 9x OS.

There are known problems and issues with upgrading in this fashion, and is exactly why MS support will not support you, at all, ever.
