Norton Antivirus (wont unistall)

basically i am trying to unistall norton antivirus , but each time i try to it always come up with an error and i really need to try to unistall it so i can install McAfee because i have got a really bad virus problem which has bascially destroyed norton if you knw what i mean , the virus came through MSN isntant message , if any ones knows how i can unistall it please help me .

also I started this thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69374 if you look around in there, there are a few programs that will help you uninstall and tell you what to do with those programs.

 

if McAfee dont work try the zone alarm security suite it got a good anti virus a firewall and a good anti spyware it catches thoses win32. viruses before they even start. [EDIT] MagorGeeks does not condone nor permit our forums to be used for illegal activites. [/EDIT]

 

Had a similar issue on a friends XP pc.On trying start nortons or uninstall it kept asking for a password which had never been entered.In services I set to disabled everything norton related and unticked all norton startups in msconfig.

Rebooted and it finally uninstalled.Set up Nod 32 ,Ewido,Spybot and a couple of others.All of which done their Job and found virii,trojans,worms and all sorts of crap.And Nortons had only been corrupted for a few days.

Never been a Norton fan here.
