First of all I am not certain I am in the correct area to ask this question but when I attempted to post it in the A/V section it informs me that No New Threads there are allowed... so this being the closest akin to Anti Virus I could find...

Well perhaps my question will basically show why I am a lowly Private... but then from lowly Privates Big CMSgt's grow, eh??

I consistently see available for D/L the "latest" AV Definitions for Norton A/V 2003/2007. I have subscribed to Norton ever since my first PC circa 1989 and I renew each year... So I presume my product would be called Norton AV 2009. To what does the other 2003/2007 50.9 Mb worth of definitions refer?

Does it mean that if you had the product that year.. err... those years that renewal was or is not necessary for subsequent years... just download the current definitions and they will update your 2007 {for XP users I believe} and the necessity for paying the subscription and renewal fees each year is only for sucker's?? I realize my question sounds kinda naive... but then because I had to ask it I guess I *AM* or must be fairly naive... sigh...

Good Afternoon and Thank you for your response to my Query... As it is, you and I have not previously been in direct contact to the best of my knowledge... and the opportunities for such ~~ Well, until earlier last month I have been content to lurk in the shadows where a Lowly Private would be found in his place; and as it has been for the past year, I have observed you and your demonstrated expertise from afar... for which you have garnered my respect.

Today you 'shared' with me and I found your reply to be so absolutely ... adequate ;) In that vein, should I be concentrating on reading between the lines as in what was not said?? The wording of my original post as well as your response, I presume is inherently vanilla in timbre as well as it is most difficult in the conveyance of the actual intents herein. Again, It remains a question most difficult to come straight out and not ask, n'cest pas? Am I being as clear as mud or am I riding The Curl as I presume ...

Merci Mon Ami for your anticipated candor as I depart as I entered with ;)
