if you want to disable norton, do the following:

    uninstall norton antivirus
install avg or avast and install that.

anyway, what video card do you have in your computer? if you don't knowk right click on the desktop and go to properties. then go to the settings tab, then click on advanced, then to adapter. tell us what it is.

You should be able to uninstall Norton by going to control panel/ add or remove programs, and uninstall from there. Norton is known to be a resource hog, and with only 256 meg of ram, it is possible that the system is constantly going to the swap file and causing the poor play, especially if you have onboard video which is being allocated some of your meager supply of memory. So, as mentioned, try that, and install AVG in it's place and see what happens.

Uninstall Norton's and install AVG or Avast from MG.

    AVG http://www.majorgeeks.com/ download886.html
    .............OR..................
    Avast download http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1968.html

Download either, or both, while you are still running Norton's. Get off the net and install one or the other. Then uninstall Norton's while you are still off the net. Don't go back on-line until you have either AVG or Avast installed, and then update your selected AV.

Both are free. I prefer Avast due to it's simplicity in updating. It does it for you automatically and unobtrusively whenever updates are released without you having to bother searching..

Do you use Norton's Anti-Virus, or Norton's system works. If SystemWorks I would keep Windoctor and Speeddisk and give AntiVirus the flick.

Let us know how you go. Bazza
