Norton Internet Security 2004 Pro Problems

Oh please, I hope someone cab help me! I don't know if this is the Forum I should be posting to, or if I should post to a different one. I would "think" this is a software issue But perhaps it isn't.

I did have Norton Internet Security 2003, which I thought was great. It had expired and I downloaded from Symantec to 2004 Pro. I have nothing but problems. It crawls and you would never believe I have DSL. I have Windows XP.

I uninstalled. It worked fine. I reinstalled. Horrible. I've done this yet a couple more times. I don't know what to do. It's awful in both Outlook Express and in Explore. Examples of Outlook Express is that it takes 10 seconds to change from e.g., Inbox to Sent. Then if I click on any message there is a 3 second delay before I can read the message. Furthermore, if I compose it takes many seconds after I highlight before it will actually delete.

I don't know what to do. It works fine after I uninstall, but then it is unprotected.

It is impossible to reach Symantec. All they do is send automated responses. Even when I wrote to "customer service" that if they couldn't tell me what to do I wanted my money back, I got back an automated response. Either that, or they just didn't care that much.

I had also ordered the CD (which I see has been shipped). Perhaps that will work better. But I will be afraid to open it because then they will probably not give me back my money if I still have the same problem.

Please, can someone guide me through this annoying problem?
