I use Norton Internet security, with Firefox (V 1.01)as my main browser. Just recently (since I upgraded firefox and norton I think)Norton's Ad blocking seems to be preventing me from using firefox. I Turn Ad blocking on, and I can't load up my homepage (google) or even view my bookmarks. IE works fine with none of these problems on the same homepage. I have tried to get around it by permitting firefox full access to the internet, and allowing ads from google but to no avail. The only solution seems to be to disable Ad Blocking. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody know the cause?

Just curious, but have you checked to see which brower that you made default? And why are you still running Norton IS? FireFox has been upgraded to 1.02 in the past two days or so, and is a worthwhile download. There are lots of freeware alternatives to Norton available for download on MajorGeeks, and for the most part are better, in my opinion. Only my thoughts and opinions on the matter, and hope that they help! ;)

additionally, you could use the ad-block extension for firefox and achieve the same or similar results.

You can also try unchecking just the "Turn on Popup Window Blocking" option within the "Ad Blocking" feature of Norton Internet Security.

    See if that allows it.

    First off I made a mistake. It's FF1.02 I upgraded to.
I use norton because that is what my stepdad has installed. He likes it, and gets grumpy if I change it. While any part of the Noton Ad blocking was on, FF would not work. However, I now believe this was due to a problem with an extension I had on there, as it would occasionaly stop working with the ad blocking turned off. I removed all extensions (except tabbed browsing preferences!) and voila! It now works perfectly.
    Thanks for your suggestions.
