Norton Internet Security - Cannot create files

Hiya - wonder if somebody can help me...

I've recently had problems with Norton Anit-virus 2004, so I decided to upgrade to Norton Internet Security 2004. I downloaded the file and tried to run it but for some reason it cannot create the following files:-

I've used Spybot, Adaware and SpySweeper to remove various files and used Trend Micro and the Nortn prescan to check for viruses, but no viruses were found.

I followed the tips from Symantec to remove all Symantec files and tried to run the NIS2004.exe but still the following files cannot be created...

Cannot create NAV\External\NORTON\APP\Navlcom.dll
Cannot create Setup\SymLT\APP\nislcom.dll
Cannot create NAV\External\CommonFi\SYMSHARE\SymLTCOM.dll
Cannot create Setup\SymLT\COMMON\SYMSHARE\SymLTCOM.dll

any helpful ideas would be appreciated.

Get rid of Norton. It costs too much, sucks up your resources, and isn't very good. I use Avast! along with ZoneAlarm though there many others that work just as well. I had Norton's for 9 mo. and got fed up with problems like the one you're having. Here are some good anti-virus products http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads29.html and here are some good firewalls http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads34.html . The free ones are very good and pay versions are inexpensive, and don't have the yearly extortion fee like Nortons.
