When i install norton it goes fine but as soon as the installation has finished the activation wizard appears. I then pressed next and it loads and says configuration failed. The product now is not activated soit will not protect me against any oncoming threats as it is not congragating with the internet.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Is this the machine that is having the regedit problem? http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=87066
If so you may want to make sure you are free from malware. This way you can eliminate that and work on one problem at a time. Putting multiple post about problems with the same machine may not get your box fixed efficiently.

It is the same machine and i will run the malware step by step step instructions and see if that helps.

here's a warning: I've used that tool before and it didn't help me. check your documents and settings\allusers\application data and delete any symantec or liveupdate folders. also be advised to remove c:\program files\common files\symantec. there's an .exe in there, kill it with task manager or it won't let you delete the folder. that norton cleanup utility DOESN'T clean up everything.
