Norton Internet Security2003!!!!

I HATE IT


I tried to get rid of it. It gives me an error message that I must be on a supervisor account. So I try logging in as admin, same error. I can find nowhere in Norton to log in or put a password in. So I disable it in the system services and with msconfig (XP Pro SP1)

Well now none of my games can access the internet including steam and doom3. Ive googled how to get rid of it and the best ive found is formatting which is a great solution for windows since you have limited control over things but I just dont want to do that since I only use WIndows for gaming and dont feel like reinstalling everything else that I sometimes use.

If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate it. Thanks

I had the same problem, so I let it slide for a lil bit, then some new spyware interacted with Internet Security and it messed up my TCP/IP protols which is only fixable thru registry.... Thats my experiance

thanks for the link, I didnt check tho before I tried windows repair .....which stopped XP from being able to reboot. So it is formatting, windows overwrote my Grub Bootloader so I got a lot of fun to look forward to since Windows crap bootloader only supports their O/S.

 

I'd also download and run RegSupreme then run regedit to clean up any stubbornly repeating leftovers that RegSupreme finds. (go to start>run> type "regedit" --without the quotes) and using RegSupreme's list, nuke the buggars. And of course, before you do this: ALWAYS backup registry and set a restore point too, just in case.
