Norton liveupdate failure

Hi, I just ran Norton Liveupdate and one of the updates failed: Symantec Common Client Updates>Common Client ccProxy. Error LU1812. I went to symantec website and did what they recommended, but it's still not updating. Before I uninstall all my Symantec products I thought I'd ask here if anyone knows how to fix this. I hate uninstalling Norton. There's always files left over that screw-up the reinstallation of it. Can anyone help me, please?

Norton is my nightmare, but which version of are you using and are you using just AV, System Works, or the security one (can't remember the name of that)?

 

It's Norton AV 2004 and Norton Personal Firewall 2004, separately, not both together on the same disk. I don't know wtf to do. Should I try all the steps symantec says to try and drive myself nuts, or just uninstall everything BUT HOW?

Are the disks on the same machine/OS? Or are you talking about you have a AV cd and a Firewall CD?
