norton problem

I have norton internet security (along with NAV). recently while using the lappy the liveupdate popped up and i clicked to update my definations. Norton froze for a long time. when i restarted my comp it shows me a msg that symantec integrator has encountered a problem and it needs to close.

can somebody tell me what wrong? do i have a malware/spyware/virus or just norton is jacked up.

P.S. i did try uninstalling it using add/remove but i get the same msg.

Had the same thing awile back ,,, I think they changed something a few months ago . now I have to shut off security to update nav . I just rclick on security ball in taskbar and disable .then update then turn back on ..

changing AV is something i want to do really bad, unfortunately its not an option.

I cannot access norton. everytime i double click on it i get that error. it does not start up either, even in safe mode.

i cant connect to the symantec website. i get page/server not found thing on IE.

Go to step 2 in the link I gave you and use the SymNRT utility.

Why can't you change anti-virus? We have several free ones here.

ty steve. i rather try and fix the problem first and use uninstalling it and reinstalling it as my last option. to cut it short .... its not an option because the laptop is shared.

OK. Maybe you will get some other ideas. Using step 2 and reinstalling, you always have that option.
