Hello, I downloaded a program, however, norton quarintines and "deletes" the file when installing it. I've tried to find all the options for an allow list. I'm not finding one, I know this program is not a virus. Is there anything i can do?

    Thanks Lolli

Since Norton is quarantining the file, obviously it thinks that it contains a possible viral.

There are millions of files and programs in the world. Providing us with a file and program name would be a lot more useful.

At any rate, I would suggest you send that file to the below online file scanner and see what it detects. It runs a bunch of different scanners on the file.

It it is busy, you will have to keep on trying. Many people use that tool. Another one to try is below:

Well the program is a keylogger, that is why, norton is automatically set to detect it. This is for my own use. And SC Keylog is the free version, I've used it before, but on the new computer I have, now has norton instead of AVG. Does this help?

    Thanks for your replies

See, that is why Norton is detecting it. It is trying to say that you are a not to bright bulb in placing a Keylogger onto your machine. Why in question would you want to put a Keylogger on your machine, when the majority of them (or I should say all of them) pretty much report a lot of your activty back to the software writer.

I realize that, however, It has saved me a once when my computer crashed, I had done alot of reports and things and such, and it was all saved, logged in my email... have any idea how to get around this certain file?

    Thanks Rhonda

I also did a little bit of research before selecting the program, and I have previously used it. But thanks for your heeded warning :)

If Norton is stating that it is bad, then I would go with that. Even if you get it installed, running Norton on the system, it will still Quarantine the file.

MG has/had keyloggers here for download that set off virus scanners too. Do you believe we carry viruses or malware here? SC Keylog 2.25.

Norton should, like other av applications, have an exclusion list. You'll need to add the program to it. With eTrust, for example, you go into the real time scan settings and can modify exclusions there. You'll need to do it with the on demand scanner as well.

Thank you much, i'm gonna read up, that is the program infact i'm trying to reinstall lol.. is SC keylog free version, to Browniz, I do not do online transactions, take care of bills or buy from ebay or any other "potentially harmfull" transactions. So even if this perticular program does send info back to the software maker, i'm sure they'll be amuzed at my online rambelings to my family about my kids and emails I send, loads of fun lol.... I would be more worried if a keylogger was installing itself or if it was an unwanted program, downloaded through another source.

Thank you both for your help, i'm gonna read up and make sure i understand it all, i'll be back if i have more questions,

    Rhonda

No, I do not believe that MG carries potential viral files. It is just that AV manufacturers tend to believe that KeyLoggers are bad regardless of the source. They can be used for good, especially if you have a company that has to keep track of what the users are doing (Users do have to be aware that their use can be tracked, and sign the statement), but otherwise if you do not let your users aware that their actions are tracked, it can turn out to be bad.

I do not believe in using a Keylogger for home use, because there is no need for it.

Well, this one is legit, and its not up to us to decide if the poster is going to use it, so please, feel free to help them, if the application is legit. MG offers it for download; there is nothing wrong with that.

    :)
