Norton removed but...

    ...a system restore point was done before the removal.

    Will going back to the restore point in essence still have Norton, I'm thinking not, but want to make sure since it's on a friends computer and we need to figure out how to get it back on there. She says she doesn't have the discs or the serial key - I figure that's easily solved by contacting Norton for the key.

    No. Certain registry keys will be backed up, but certainly not the files.

    So is it safe to assume that she won't need to find her serial key, we just need to download the right Norton version and she's off?

    Well, it takes a complete snapshot of the registry at the time, so technically, it would still be in that restore point, just not accessible through the normal channels.

    SO really yeah, downloading to reinstall is best--getting the key froma restore point is going to be challenging.
