Norton Systemworks 2004 Not Opening

I installed Norton Systemworks 2004. When I went to open "Norton Anti Virus" I saw the sand timer--pause.

Then nothing.

Why is it not opening up?
PS: Norton Support is hopeless.

 

I am not a Norton fan and stopped using their programs a long time ago. That said it might be that you have another program running which the Norton AV cannot live with. Particularly another AV or Firewall program. Also if you are running with XP 2 update that could be a problem.

My experience is much like Roberts. One of the big problems with Norton is that it is SO instrusive into your system that software conflicts happen often. You might try going thru msconfig startup and removing programs one at a time and rebooting to see if you can identify what program Norton is in conflict with.
It's hard to give up on a program that costs so much, (been there - done that)but I would suggest
you start downloading and testing some freeware programs like ZoneAlarm and AVG. Life is better when control of your computer is in your hands - not Nortons.
