Back when I had Norton 2004 Pro installed it took over the Recycle bin and named it "Norton Protected Recycle Bin", I know this should be an easy fix but I can't seem to figure out how to rename it back to just Recycle bin - one more reason I got rid of Norton !!! System is Win. 98SE:confused:

    JoeN,

    Have a look here, http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nsw.nsf/pfdocs/1998447940489807?OpenDocument&Click=

Also, the Microsoft Support link on that page, http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...port/kb/articles/Q246/7/26.ASP&NoWebContent=1

You may have problems if you didn't get a good uninstall of NAV, let us know.

Good call,Mata :) The Symantec link you listed seems to hit the nail right on the head. Hi Joe. Maybe you should download and run RegSupreme and Crap Cleaner . Both are great registry tools.
I'd use Crap Cleaner first. Use both the first screen (simply hit "run cleaner" button and when it completes it's list of "crap." Select the items you want to clean by checking the appropriate boxes then hit execute) then click the right hand tab that says "issues" and tell it to search for issues. After looking over the issues it finds, MOST CAREFULLY, select the issues you want to fix and tell it to go ahead.
Then run RegSupreme. Again take a good look at the issues it wants to fix and, if you're sure, go ahead and fix them. RegSupreme always makes a backup of the issues it fixes so if you want to reset them you can by clicking a button.
You can also let SpybotSearch and Destroy have a look.
Between those proggies you should know how many, if any, other little leftover goodies Norton has saddled you with.

    Use Cleanup! http://www.stevengould.org/ Freeware 3.1

    EmpTemp http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1575 as well.

They REALLY do find stuff that each other misses. Doesn't matter what order you run CrapCleaner, Cleanup! and EmpTemp in. I run them in that order and always find something extra to get rid of. Bazza.

PS: FWIW. I run an old version of Norton System works and Norton protected recycle bin has saved me on more than 1 occasion. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Baz
