RecentlyI upgraded to 2008 Norton Antivirus. Now, many times a Norton pop-up tells me that "A recent attempt to attack your computer was blocked". Is there a way to disable this pop-up? Maybe by altering a certain .exe file?

    Hi solar63,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support team responding to your posting.

The message you are receiving is telling you that something is trying to breach your computer security. Make sure that LiveUpdate has been running properly and that you have the latest updates. You can also manually run LiveUpdate through the main Norton AntiVirus window. After you have run LiveUpdate, restart your computer in Safe Mode, launch Norton AntiVirus and complete a "Full System Scan" to determine if your computer is infected.

After you complete the scan, take a look at the Activity Log to see if you can determine what is trying to access your computer. To see the activity log, open Norton AntiVirus, click on the "Norton AntiVirus" tab at the top of the window, click on "Reports & Statistics" and then select "View Activity Log."

Although you can disable some notifications in Norton AntiVirus, certain attacks on your computer will still trigger alerts to appear so that you are aware of the problems.

To turn off notifications, open Norton AntiVirus, click on "Options" in the left pane of the window and then select 'Norton Protection Center." remove the check in the box next to "Show messages from Windows Security Center" and then click the "OK" button.

    Thanks,
    Mike
