Nortons antivirus needs to be continuously activated

I have had no problems for six months, now I need to keep activating it (trial period has run out) it is a store bought version, all fully legal. When I activate it runs normal for as couple of days then I need to reactivate it. I have all updates and 99% sure that I have no viruses, spyware, Trojan ect.. All help is appreciated.
