nortons ghost question

i was wondering if it was possible to copy just the windows portion of a hd to another hd. the first hd is a 320g and the one that i want to copy to is only a 10g. any help with this would be appreceated. i also have acronis if it would be easier to use that i just have never used it before

 

I know you can't do it with Ghost. I've never used Acronis, so I'm not sure, but I'd put my money on 'No' also. You'd be pretty hard pressed to figure out exactly where the Windows OS information ends on the hard drive. Chances are (knowing how Windows works to a certain degree), the system files are scattered over a large area and I don't see any way to round them up and copy just those files. It would be MUCH easier to simply reload Windows onto the 10gb hard drive. Keep in mind that after installing drivers and updates, you'll only have about 6gb or 7gb left on the puny 10gb

no you can ghost just the system folders in norton and achieve this. Just only select the windows folder, and the other system folders. Not sure of the exact ones cause im not using xp any more, but its very much possible, though defeats the purpose of ghost is more a whole system clone app, but its your call.
