nortons system works wont uninstall.

    i wanted to get rid of nortons av and go back to the free av i used to use.but when i looked for the uninstall it wasnt there.and system works isnt on my start menu, and i cant find it on add/remove programs:mad:

    Hi,

    Its somehting about these commercial software lately, they try their hardest to stop you from removing their stuff.

    Anyway you might have some luck if you insert the installation cd. Run it. It might give you an option to uninstall here. Some programs do that for some reason.

    Give me a shout if it works

    thats not gona work. A system restore will not uninstall a program.

    You said that it is not shown in the add/remove programs bit.

    This is an uninstaller program. It might help you delete norton.

    heres an ss of the only nortons stuff that that uruninstaller finds.even if i get rid of that,there are still folders i cant get rid of.
    what i did do though is reinserted the nortons disc and went to reinstall, then i get the popup sayin there are old files and they must be uninstalled b4 i can reinstall the new 1's. so i say ok to write over them.i reinstalled system works but i still cant find any unistall for the av part.

    im so screwed, im not sure if i wanna mess with regestry editing,lol.
    i might just get my buddy to vamp the drive, again :(

    Have you checked the Nortons folders for an unwise.exe or uninstall.exe? All add remove does is create a shortcut to these files.

    i see neither of em.
    i wanted to get rid of the av mostly. seems like the free av i used before found stuff nortons never found.only reason i went back to nortons is because it scanned my email.
    but i want to switch back to antivir
