"nospam" = SPAM!

some forum i posted on demanded an email. i just typed in "nospam@nospam.com" but i got an error "your post looks spammy. we don't like spam around here. pls go back and post something a little less spammy".

to be honest, i had a lot of UPCAPS in the post as well, so i thought it might be that. but no, changing nospam@ to joe@ indeed solved the problem.

so my spammy POST didn't matter, my posting the exact same thing TWICE didn't matter; all that mattered was the fact that the user ID was "nospam". THAT constituted spam!

i find this funny.

 

Some forums block those throwaway signups, also, some of them are insecure, requiring only the email address for full access.

 

the site wasn't even checking the validity of the email. just making me enter one.

i often use stuff like "sdkhsidcno@djcnksajdc.com" on the spot but in this case made the mistake of cleaning it up to "nospam".

i just find it funny that "nospam" could be considered the ultimate sign of spam.

i suppose so. but the board says "software" not "support".

i considered posting it in the lounge, but this is a quirk of their software algorithms, so i figured it belonged here. someone might have some insight on the inner workings of what triggers a "looks spammy" error, for example.
