    hi to all!

I received every time the following message in win98 and winXp
when I tried to open any software in the computer.

    '' It is not a valid win98 application ''

I reinstall windows with differenct CD's but the problems still exists.

What is the solution, if any? Thanks!

In other words, the exe file should be moved to C:\ not E:\ to try and run it. Very many programs expect to be on drive C:\ and will not run if they are elsewhere.

Because your image shows the firefox setup with no icon (usually when you download a program it will have an icon like firefoxes little orange fox, when just a blue box shows it means the download did not complete and therefore shows no icon) I think its possible your download did not complete correctly. A lot of times when you have a slow download speed, certain websites and windows itself will timeout and stop the download before its completed. When this happens you will get the error you have because your trying to run a file that is incomplete.

Try downloading again but this time use flashget v1.73 (do not take the newer versions just the classic 1.73). Once you have flashget installed and figure out how to download with it, your files will have less chance of corruption. Download managers like flashget go back and recheck what they have downloaded, looking for errors, and download that section again if they find any. They also allow to restart a download if its stopped by windows or the website as long as the website has that capability. This way you will get less bad files and no more "not a valid program" errors.

Are you on a dialup connection?
