Not able to access attachments on Outlook

This computer I am speaking of is using windows 98 SE. Now the problem seems to be that the attachments are grayed out, they can't be selected even if they can be seen from the pull down menu. We aren't corresponding with each other, but just for reference this person has the same things I have running, Avast! antivirus, complete with email monitoring and ZA Pro firewall with the same enabled. I, however, am able to access my attachments yet they can't.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? As always any help is greatly appreciated.
