Hello. I'm not sure where to begin??

Been having trouble for a week or so now, was told in the Malware Forum to come here, and that my 'registry may be corrupt' (and that, I suppose, I don't understand how to operate Vista?).

The gist of the problem seems to be 'triple-pronged' I suppose you could say.

    1. I am not able to update some programs, 2., not able to run some others and 3., my Firefox extensions seem to have "disappeared" now (not sure how to get them back, have tried, but seems as if I can only run Firefox in "Safe Mode" (am sending this via IE7).

The problems "seemed" to present themselves around the time I was trying to update Nvidia Drivers (and downloaded something called "Ntune" from them - which come to think of it, could be the whole problem?) and/or when I "attempted" to download the Eval version of WinZip (would not run).

Here is a link to my initial query, I am now understanding that there is no problem with AVG (was somehow worked-out??).

    Thanks.

Do you have restore points? Now that you know it is not malware, it might be easiest to restore before you installed ntune.

As far as FF, when you run in safe mode, no addons are loaded.
If you want to switch you type this in the run box with the quotes
    "C:\Program Files\MOZILLA FIREFOX\firefox.exe" -p
This brings up a box which allows you to select a profile. For the time being, check/tick the box that says always show this. Pick your normal user account and see if it loads properly. If not, go back to safe mode and this time when the profile box comes up, select, create a new profile. Give it a username and then start to install your addons and themes to this profile.

Thanks guys. I'm sorry, I just don't understand a lot (MOST) of this stuff.

I looked through (read some) of the Firefox diagnostic page - but just not sure how to proceed (in an orderly fashion).

The FF extensions (add-ons?) show up in Tools>Add-ons>Extensions - they're just not loading with my browser.

Did you do the first suggestion and restore your computer to the time before you installed ntune? Because if you did do this, it might correct FF and you wouldn't have to troubleshoot it.

You all are giving me a lot more credit than I can take. I really don't understand the troubleshoot page instructions from Mozilla. I am also not sure exactly when I downloaded the Ntune thing from Nvidia, therefore not sure which Restore Point to choose. Is this (ntune) program known to be problematic in some way? Could this be the cause of my FF add-ons/extensions not loading? Again, I am also not able to get Ad-Aware to run at all.

I also don't know anyone who knows any more about this stuff than I do (sad, huh?). I currently live in a very rural, isolated place.
