I've been banging my head against the wall due to a kindle touch/windows 7 issue.

Last week I had my computer re-imaged and now when I plug in the kindle via usb it doesn't show up under removable storage devices.

It does make the noise that you hear when plugging in a usb device, and I can see it under device manager, but not disk management.

I've tried to uninstall then reinstall kindle software, but when it's reinstalling it crashes by computer every time. I get the BSOD.

I've tried all of the simple troubleshooting I could think of. I thought giving it a file path under disk management might work but it isn't there. I've tried reinstalling usb drivers, using a different cable, resetting the kindle.

Oddly enough, my roommate has the exact same computer as me and we both got our computers reimaged at the same time and his kindle has the same problem.

I found a post from a user with a very similar problem:

She even has the same computer as I do. But hers was resolved by updating an unrelated driver (acronis) and I've searched my computer and don't see anything like that.

I've called amazon and did the basic troubleshooting. They are saying it is a pc issue.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
